How do you not run? How do you hold your feet planted when something is standing in front of you causing everything inside of you to want to run? I’m not talking about a dangerous situation, some life-or-death attack by animals. But maybe it is a life-or-death attack, not of your physical existence but of your emotional one. Are you going to stand there and acknowledge your biggest fears and say no to them and tell them you get the call on who you are in that moment, or are you going to run and be a slave to an identity built on the past, on fears? Who says we have to stay true to a version of us we no longer chose? We do. We choose this all the time. But we don’t have to.
The moment you see or can imagine your choice in the version of you, you want to hold, is the moment you stop giving every moment to the past. The past limits the now. The past says we are insignificant and not enough. The past says love relationships are too much to handle. The past puts all those layers on today, but we cannot fortune tell today. If you (and you do!) have a choice to live a version of you that imagines an amazing future where you get every adventure you wish and every great love story, would you rather go for that version? I would. That version opens my eyes and my heart, and I breath just a little easier than believing the negativity of the past and fear.
The past does NOT dictate today, or the future. We get to choose. No, it’s not easy to change years of thinking the same way or acting out the same pattern, but it is worth doing. You become freer with every fear or old pattern you break through. How amazing, eye-opening, thrilling, damn sexy, is it to choose how you define you? You get to choose how you define your today, and your tomorrow. Fight that feeling to run! When you do, you will see a side of you, you always hoped was possible. For with every breath and every step you become more you.
